Hades and Friends (HADES) had a 10-2 lead on the decider and were in the middle of throwing it away. lays brabeqyue™ (BBQ) had won five in a row and were three rounds from levelling. Elysium was the only HADES player still getting kills, and the round that finally stopped the bleeding came from the guy at the bottom of the scoreboard. Before all that, though, there were two maps, and both of them were about Elysium.
Ascent and Haven
HADES are meant to be a playoff team, and they played the first half of their own Ascent pick like one, 8-4 up at the switch. Then BBQ got to attack and won nine of the next twelve. 11-13, on the map HADES chose, and the night was barely twenty minutes old.
Haven was BBQ's pick and they led it 6-5, and the series was starting to slip, until Elysium said no in round twelve. His Clove killed Toast at A Sewer, then iMaxx and rain as they came through A Long, and HADES leveled the half at 6-6. He added two more on the pistol after the switch and HADES never trailed again. He finished the map 29/16 with 298 ADR, and Fancypancy's Cypher quietly had three separate three-kill rounds behind him, so it was never a one-man job. 13-8, series level, and off to Sunset with everything on it.
Sunset
BBQ attacked first and got absolutely nowhere for nine rounds. Elysium, now on Chamber, had the opening kill in five of them, and whenever it wasn't him, winter's Operator was sitting there waiting. That Op ended five rounds in the half, and Bob walked into it three times. The frustrating part for BBQ is that they actually got the spike down on B five times and lost every single post-plant, because winter and Penguin were always still alive to take the site back. At 9-0 they finally tried A and won two, and just as 9-3 was on, Elysium killed four on his own at A Elbow, three with Chamber's ult. 10-2 at the half, and nobody thought this was going anywhere.
Then HADES had to attack, and suddenly they had the exact problem BBQ just spent a half with. iMaxx took three with a Ghost on the pistol and BBQ defused. Toast's Outlaw dropped Hades at Mid Bottom four seconds into round fifteen. HADES planted A in sixteen and seventeen and lost both retakes. Five straight, 10-7, and Elysium was still finding a kill a round but he was finding it alone.
That's when Hades, who'd been quiet all night, went first for once. HADES hit A again in round eighteen and he burned Bob at Elbow with Hot Hands, Accolade dealt with Toast and iMaxx pushing A Alley, and Hades finished BryceGunz and rain at A Link. 11-7, and they could breathe again, though BBQ didn't go away quietly. Elysium won a 1v1 against rain for 12-7, BBQ got two back to 12-9, then Elysium killed iMaxx and BryceGunz through B Boba and Penguin closed it against Bob. 13-9, 2-1.
BBQ walk away with a map off a playoff team, iMaxx's 22 on the decider, and Toast landing 77% of his kills in the head on Sunset while everything else went wrong.
The kleeism map
BEARD 0-2 ECHO | Sunday, August 23
For nine rounds on Lotus, echodolls couldn't win a fight and kleeism couldn't lose one. That was the whole series really, one player against a map, and it went 14-12 and 13-9 because eventually somebody else on his team showed up.
Lotus
Beard 13 (BEARD) attacked first and looked comfortable doing it. C in round one, A in round two, both won, crepe's Chamber opening the second with a Headhunter at A Main and Asimov's Neon clearing the site behind him. echodolls (ECHO) took round three on a gabe triple at B Main, and that was it for a while. kamui killed four in round five, crepe picked two with the Op in round six, and BEARD kept going until they'd built a 6-1 lead. kleeism won round eight on his own with a Neon ult retake through C Hall, then BEARD went to C again, planted, and kamui killed all three of the retake. 8-2. You started to wonder if ECHO could win a gunfight at all on this map.
Round eleven answered that. BEARD went to C one more time, planted at C Bend with four alive, and kleeism killed crepe and kamui on site, then jhotheweirdtrex and Asimov as they came back to defend the spike, and defused. An ace, 8-2 down, eleven rounds from losing the map. BEARD still took the last round of the half, 9-3, but the only reason it wasn't 10-2 was one man.
At 9-3 nobody was calling a comeback. What changed after the switch is that kleeism finally had someone behind him. Every round went the same way: kleeism went in first and opened the site, gabe was the one still standing when BEARD tried to take it back. On the pistol kleeism killed crepe and FIRE on the way into C and gabe cleaned up the last two at C Main. Next round, kleeism took two at A Hut with a Stinger and gabe finished kamui and crepe on A Stairs. Round fifteen came down to crepe against kleeism in a 1v1, after she'd killed saberMH and oesune on A, and he shot her at A Tree. Round eighteen, 9-8, kleeism opened A with two, kamui got him with a Sheriff, and gabe killed Asimov, kamui and FIRE in three seconds to hold it. Six straight, 9-9, and BEARD hadn't won a round since the half.
They found three when it mattered. Asimov won a 1v1 at B and defused, crepe finished off a round oesune's Raze had nearly stolen at C Bend, and in round twenty-one BEARD killed all five in eighteen seconds. 12-9, and three map points.
ECHO just went back to the thing that got them there. kleeism opened round twenty-two with the Neon ult on Asimov at C Main and killed two more after the plant, and when jhotheweirdtrex finally got him, gabe killed crepe to end it. kleeism had four more in round twenty-three and oesune took twenty-four with four kills, two of them with a Shorty. 12-12. BEARD attacked in the first overtime round and got wiped without a plant, BunBun opening with an Odin at C Door and gabe taking the last two at B. In the second, ECHO planted at C Bend and kleeism killed FIRE and jhotheweirdtrex to finish it. 14-12.
kleeism ended on 44 kills and a 484 ACS, 24 of them at C, the site BEARD couldn't stop going back to. gabe had 23 with a 44% headshot rate and was the last ECHO player alive at the end of five of the eleven rounds they won after the half. Nobody else in NA got past 43 on a map this week.
kleeism44/17 · 1.69 kprHaven
BEARD went to Haven a map down after leading 12-9, and nothing about the pattern changed. Aero had four kills on the pistol and still lost the round, which sums up their night. kleeism opened A in round four and gabe finished the last two after the plant, saberMH won a 1v2 for 6-4, and ECHO took an 8-4 half. BEARD got it back to 8-11 on an Asimov four-kill round and an A detonate, then gabe won the retake through A Tower in round twenty and defused. 13-9. kleeism had 29 on the map, 73 for the series, and you'll see him again further down, on a different team.
Narc9 beat the roster that was supposed to beat them
N9 2-0 ALI | Monday, August 24
N9 were 2-7 down on Summit and won it 13-11. On Sunset they led 7-0, gave every bit of it back to 12-12, and won that too, on a Shorty 1v1 in overtime. On paper this was Ali Daycare's (ALI) match. Accolade, revoke and Reimsy are three names any team in the group would take, and Narc9 (N9) don't have anyone like that. Accolade aced on a map his team was losing 8-1, and they still lost the series.
Summit
ALI picked it and attacked first. N9 took the first two on B defuses, and then the script went the way everyone assumed it would: seven straight for ALI, Reimsy's Phoenix opening rounds, Accolade's Neon doing the rest, three with an Outlaw in round five and four through B Link and B Tower in round nine. 7-2, and N9 were losing on their own defense to exactly the players everyone said they'd lose to.
The run ended on tiasun. His Tejo got a Special Delivery kill on Accolade at B in round ten and N9 defused, Genex took three at B the round after, and N9 went to the half 4-8 down instead of buried. Then N9 attacked and won six on the bounce. Fries' Omen leveled it, killing Accolade, v3d and revoke at A Main inside a second. 8-8. Accolade answered with three Op kills next round and ALI lost that round anyway. jackb's Outlaw took two in eighteen, 10-8, ALI pulled it back to 10-10 with a v3d Clove self-revive holding a defuse, and then N9 just finished it. jackb three kills and a B detonate, Genex a 1v2 at B Main for 12-10, and after ALI took one back Genex shot v3d in B Main again on the last round. 13-11.
Sunset
N9's pick, and ALI needed it. ALI went B in each of the first seven rounds, planted in six of them, and lost all seven. Fries opened round two with three Bulldog kills in fourteen seconds. Idoski killed Accolade and ali in the same instant in round six. 7-0. ALI finally tried A and got one, and then in round ten, 8-1, Accolade aced, all five through A Site, Elbow, Alley and Link, on a map his team was getting buried on. 8-4 at the half, a pulse at least.
And for eleven rounds after that, the roster played like the roster. N9 won the pistol, then ALI took four straight, Sellow's Sova and Reimsy each with a three-kill round and Accolade dropping jackb and Idoski at B Market and Boba at the same time. 9-8. Reimsy shot three N9 players in their own spawn in round nineteen, 10-9, and revoke won 1v2 defuses in rounds twenty-one and twenty-four to drag it to 12-12. From 7-0 down to overtime on the other team's map, and you'd have had money on them.
N9 held the first overtime round with a defuse at A Link. In the second, tiasun killed revoke at A Alley, Reimsy on the site, and then Accolade with a Shorty at A Link in a 1v1. 14-12. Accolade had 27 on Summit and the ace on Sunset, revoke had 26 on Cypher, and ali went 9/36 across the two maps. ALI lost both maps in the last round they needed.

Gamrs Wet Dream give FF at 5 one half
FF5 0-2 MIHIR | Thursday, August 20
FF at 5 (FF5) came in as the roster nobody was expecting much from, and their first match was Gamrs Wet Dream (MIHIR), a team everyone is, and what they got was one half. For twelve rounds on their own Sunset pick they went toe to toe with a favorite. Then seji and zombzino took over the other 25 rounds of the series and won nineteen of them.
Sunset
MIHIR attacked first. seji took three with a Ghost on the pistol, and at 4-1 he ran through A Alley with Neon's ult and killed four. 5-1, the kind of map FF5 are going to see a lot of this season. But realMrTacocat's Yoru killed four through A Elbow and A Link in round nine to make it 3-6, Glazinator kept picking up two a round, and Lejigglevon's Raze had four at B in the last round of the half. 5-7. For half a map the no-hopers were two rounds off one of the favorites.
Then MIHIR went to defend and gave up one round in seven. zombzino's Phoenix had three with a Ghost on the pistol, c4rrotstix picked two with the Op at A Elbow in the last round, and zombzino finished the other two. 13-6. The half FF5 built took about fifteen minutes to disappear.
Split
Split was worse, MIHIR attacking and winning eight in a row, zombzino with four Ghost kills on A in the pistol and seji with three more on the ult at B in round five. 10-2. FF5 strung four together on defense to get to 5-10, one of them another realMrTacocat four-kill round, and then seji had four kills and a defuse at B Back in sixteen and three with the ult at B Garage in eighteen. 13-5. His Split line was 29/11 on 451 ACS, zombzino added 24 on Reyna and a 1v3, and between them they had 97 kills in 37 rounds. That Sunset half was real, though, two rounds off a favorite on their own pick, and it just ended the second those two went to defend.
Guber, an Odin, and 34 rounds on Lotus
PRC 2-0 D2C | Friday, August 21
People's Republic of Cataboo (PRC) are named after Cataboo, and Cataboo had 69 kills in this series, a 1v4 with a Sheriff and a 40-kill map, and none of that is why they won Lotus. They won Lotus because Guber, who'd gone 12/16 on Sunset, ended up alone against three with the spike ticking twice in the last three rounds of a 34-round map, and won both.
Sunset
Sunset was the Cataboo map. Nine first kills to one first death on Yoru, 29/14, and PRC took Down to Clown's (D2C) pick 13-10 with yukky adding 24 on Raze, and it was tighter than that sounds. PRC led 5-2 on defense, then Accolade picked up the Operator and the gap closed. Four kills with it through B Market and Boba in round nine, three more in eleven, Gemiknight won a 1v2 at B, and Penguin killed four on A in the last round of the half after self-reviving on Clove mid-fight. 6-6. yukky's Raze took three at A Link on the second pistol and PRC got to 10-7, D2C got two defuses back on Gemiknight's Headhunter, and Cataboo's two at B Boba in round twenty-two set up Sellow to close it.
Lotus
A map up, on their own pick, with Cataboo on Chamber and defending first. For a while PRC made it look routine, 7-5 at the half and 9-5 after round fourteen, and that fourteenth round is the one people will remember from Cataboo. PRC attacking A, Accolade and Asimov had already killed four of them, and Cataboo was alone against four holding a Sheriff. He killed Asimov at A Main, Accolade at A Rubble, walked onto the site, planted at A Hut, then killed Penguin with a Headhunter and WILL with the Sheriff as they came in. A 1v4 with a sidearm. PRC went on to 12-6, and if you were watching you assumed that was that.
What changed was Accolade. Subbing for D2C on Raze, three days before he subbed for ALI, he had three kills in round twenty and three more in twenty-one, and the safe lead was suddenly 12-9. Round twenty-three, 12-11, PRC attacking A, and he killed all five of them. Sellow at spawn, smiy and yukky in A Lobby, Cataboo with a Showstopper, Guber back at spawn, and nobody on PRC got past the lobby. 12-12, then 13-12 the round after, seven in a row, and PRC had lost a 12-6 lead on their own defense.
Overtime went on for a while. Accolade aced again in round twenty-eight, three at A Rubble and Lobby before the round was ten seconds old and a 1v1 on Cataboo to finish. D2C were on map point three times, 13-12, 15-14 and 16-15, and PRC answered every time. At 16-15 down, one round from losing the map, PRC attacked C, planted, and lost three of the retake fights, which left Guber's Fade alone against WILL, Asimov and Accolade with an Odin in his hands and the spike ticking. He killed WILL on the site, then Asimov and Accolade as they came through C Bend. 16-16.
Round thirty-four, PRC attacking again. Accolade opened with an Op kill on Cataboo at A Root. The fight moved to C, yukky and Sellow traded with Asimov and Accolade, and once again Guber found himself on his own, this time against Asimov, Accolade and WILL. He killed two around C Waterfall and the site, rotated the entire map, planted at A Hut with three seconds left on the round clock, and shot WILL coming through Hut three seconds before the spike would have gone off. 18-16.
Cataboo still finished 40/22 on the map and 69 kills in the series, with 18 first kills to 4 first deaths. Accolade had 34 on Lotus with two aces, and Penguin won three clutches for the side that lost.

From 1-11 on Haven
πCF 0-2 GCA | Sunday, August 23
Gated Community Antics (GCA) were 1-11 at the half on Haven, two rounds from a decider. They won the map 15-13. Nobody in VCC, in any region, has come back from further. The map comes down to two players: andwier, whose Operator built the 11-1 and who was then the last πCIFIC (πCF) player alive in eight of the rounds that gave it back, and Nuke, who kept being the one to find him.
Lotus
Lotus was fairly simple, πCF attacking first and winning the first four, ghastlies and happycookie with two kills each in three of them. Then GCA stopped giving up C Main. Nuke and Camel had two apiece there in round six and GCA won nine of the next ten on the way to 13-8. 7ungsten had 21 on Fade in the loss, and his two three-kill rounds were πCF's best moments, one holding a detonate at 4-2 and one on a defuse at 7-11.
Haven
πCF needed their Haven pick to force a third map, and andwier's Op did most of the first half for them. He shot CoalBlack1 at A Long six seconds into round five, and had suns and Camel on B Site in round six before GCA had even moved, both inside five seconds. The only round GCA got was the second, Nuke shooting andwier with a Classic off the pistol and a defuse. 11-1, and πCF needed two rounds from a defensive half, which nobody watching thought was in doubt.
GCA won the pistol at C in a scrap around Mid Doors, and won the next four the same way, leaving andwier as the last one standing every time. He killed three in round fourteen and lost the 1v1 to Myraculis on B, Camel ended his 1v2 at C the round after, and CoalBlack1 finished him at A Tower in sixteen. In seventeen Nuke found happycookie in C Cubby before the plant and the spike went off. 11-6, and this had stopped being a run and become a pattern. GCA were winning the fights, and andwier kept being the one left to lose them. πCF got one back on a happycookie Sheriff double at C Window and a B defuse. 12-6, one more needed, with fourteen rounds to find it.
It took them ten. GCA won the next six, Nuke opening round twenty on andwier at C Site and finding him again in C Cubby to end round twenty-two with the spike down at A, and suns had four as πCF retook A Tower in round twenty-four. 12-12, and πCF had spent every round since the half one kill short. happycookie beat Nuke in a 1v1 on B for 13-12 and a second map point, Nuke had three as GCA hit A to level it again, and then in round twenty-seven, 13-13, πCF attacked A and planted. GCA retook through A Tower and Long, happycookie killed suns to make it a 1v3, and Nuke shot him at A Sewer with the spike still ticking. Defuse. In twenty-eight GCA planted A one more time and killed all five on the retake. 15-13. The spike went down in all sixteen rounds after the half and GCA won fourteen of them. It's the biggest halftime deficit anyone has come back from in a VCC match, any region, and it's now top of the records page.
Nuke's Cypher led GCA with 27. andwier finished with 25 kills, 7 first kills, and eight rounds as the last πCF player alive, and he lost all eight of them. A 1v1 on B, a 1v2 at C, a 1v3 at A Tower, a 1v4 in C Cubby. Eight rounds where his team needed one more kill from him to end the map.
Group C
twig talked, and rayz answered
CT 0-2 BD | Friday, August 21
twig had things to say before this one. About Belle's Daycare (BD), and about his own Viper, which he'll tell you is the best in the league. Content Team (CT) are already the strange roster of the group, with Aayan playing from the UK, Kirya from Russia and Zwyxc from Hong Kong by way of a college dorm in the States, and on Friday the two players who hold it together weren't there for map one, twig and notapanda missing Summit entirely.
Summit
BD made that hurt quickly. With Reimsy and c4rrotstix filling in for CT, Kaitou's Omen killed three on the pistol, BD planted A, and they won the next six rounds the same way. CT's one round came at 0-7, c4rrotstix picking rayz with the Op at A Main and then belle and Flat on B before Kirya defused. belle finished it in round fourteen with four kills in A Garden and on site. 13-1, over before map two had loaded.
Lotus
Then twig and notapanda showed up, and for a half twig was right about everything. CT lost the first two to Kaitou and won nine of the next ten. twig opened round three on Flat at C Main and closed it on Kaitou at C Link, CT's first round of the night, and it changed how they played. Aayan's Clove held B against three and won a 1v1 at C Door to level it 3-3, and in round six twig killed Flat, belle and ANS across three different parts of the map in the time it took to plant. He found rayz twice in that half and the other Viper hadn't touched him. 9-3, against a team that had just gone 13-1, and the talk was starting to look justified.
Then BD went to attack, and the first thing rayz did was shoot twig with a Ghost at C Site, eighteen seconds into the pistol. She got him again the next round with Viper's ult, ANS killed four on A Stairs in fifteen, and by 9-9 CT hadn't won a round since the half. Kaitou got twig at C Waterfall and then at C Main to put BD ahead, and in round twenty rayz went through A on her own, notapanda, Kirya and Zwyxc on the way in and twig at A Hut with the spike already down. Eight in a row, 9-11.
twig answered with the round he'd been talking about, three kills through C Main and C Door with notapanda winning a 1v1 on site behind him and defusing, and did it again the next round. 11-11. One round from a decider, and the two rounds that would have got them there went to the two players who'd been answering them all half. rayz killed Aayan at C Hall with a Classic to end twenty-three, Flat killed three on A to close it. 11-13.
rayz won the Viper matchup, 28/14 with 100% KAST and five opening kills to one opening death, against twig's 19/18. Head to head she killed him three times, all after the half. He killed her twice, both in the half CT won.
A 9-3 half on Lotus against that BD team is still a real result, and Aayan and notapanda built most of it. If CT turn up with all five next week, Group C has a fourth team in it.
wised drops 39 on Haven, four of them in a round he lost
MIKE 0-2 CRIPS | Saturday, August 22
wised killed four in a round and lost it, then killed five in a round and won it, and somewhere between those two rounds Revenge Tour (MIKE)'s night went from 4-0 up on Haven to a sweep against them. milosz had 46 for MIKE across the series, and wised had 66 for the other side.
Lotus
MIKE dropped the first four rounds on their own pick, wised with three Classic kills on the pistol, and spent the rest of the map chasing. bchron shot three with a Bandit around A Root and A Lobby inside eleven seconds at 1-6, and milosz's Raze had four kills and a defuse in round ten. 4-8 at the half, and four straight on attack leveled it, Shadow's Chamber with two Headhunter kills at C Link on the pistol and milosz three in a round-sixteen detonate. 8-8, then traded all the way to 11-11, and Crippled Avengers (CRIPS) held the last two, wised with two on the C Bend retake and Protogen with two on A. 13-11. wised finished 27/14 on Cypher, and that turned out to be his quiet map.
Haven
Haven started 4-0 MIKE and that was the last time the series was theirs. In the second of those rounds wised killed four, three with a Sheriff on C Site and styxerating with a Bulldog in C Cubby, and lost the round anyway, because the one attacker he hadn't found, cozysipp, was the one who had planted, and the spike went off underneath him. milosz killed four on Jett the next round and at 4-0 the map was MIKE's to lose.
wised took it back a round at a time. Three on C Site in round eleven, then a 1v1 against milosz at A Link and a defuse in twelve. 6-6. MIKE won two on the switch, milosz with four on a Sheriff in a C retake, and led 8-6, until round fifteen, which is where it went. wised killed all five in eight seconds, working from C Garage through C Link and C Window onto the site, and this time the round came with it. xef's Jett followed up with four Blade Storm kills in five seconds on the same site, and CRIPS had gone from 6-8 to 11-8 in five rounds. milosz got two more back in twenty and twenty-one, and xef finished it with two Op kills through C Link in the same instant. 13-10.
wised's Haven line was 39/14 in 23 rounds, with an ace and a four-kill round. Twenty-six of those kills were around C, sixteen on the site itself, and MIKE just kept going there.
wised39/15 · 1.70 kprawawa scores 33 on Ascent and GRŰ lose it anyway
TL 1-2 GRŰ | Tuesday, August 25
awawa had two aces and three clutches on Ascent, and GRŰ (GRŰ) lost the map, because Mintmeister kept winning the rounds around him, and GRŰ took the other two 13-5 and 13-7.
Lotus
GRŰ took Tilted Llamas' (TL) Lotus pick 13-5. gibbon's Vyse opened the map with three kills and a defuse on the pistol, awawa had three the round after, and Ultia aced on Omen in round seventeen at 11-5. TL's best stretch came at 3-10, Mintmeister's Sheriff killing Fal and awawa on a force and Cread's Stinger getting the other three, and they took the next one too before GRŰ shut it.
Ascent
A map up, GRŰ went to their own Ascent looking to finish it in two, and instead got the map where awawa had the biggest game of anyone on either side and still lost. Round three, 1-1, he killed Mirage at A Tree with a Sheriff and then four more around A Window, Tree and Rafters after the plant for the ace. He had three the next round, the last two in a 1v2 on B. Round fifteen, 7-7, TL planted A and GRŰ were retaking. Cread at A Main, Konzera in A Garden, valkyrie14571 and Mirage on site, Mintmeister at A Main in a 1v1, and the defuse, his second ace of the map, and he won three of four clutches on top of that on the way to a 283 ADR.
GRŰ lost it 9-13 anyway, because Mintmeister wouldn't give the map up. He won clutches in rounds nine and ten to turn 3-5 into 5-5, and every time awawa threatened to take the game away he found the round that kept TL in it. Konzera's Jett had three-kill rounds at A Main and B, Cread's Phoenix had three of his own in the second half, and at the other end of GRŰ's board Camel went 5/19 and Fal 1/18, and TL won six of the last seven.
Sunset
Series level, one map each, and awawa opened Sunset on the pistol. Cread killed two and TL planted at B Boba, and awawa killed four through B Market and the site, the last three on his own, then defused. GRŰ held A and B in turn from there for a 10-2 half, TL's two rounds coming from Mirage's Op at Mid Top and a Mintmeister triple in round eleven. TL won five in the second half but never got closer than 7-12, and Camel's three at A Elbow and A Alley closed it 13-7. Ultia finished 19/11 with 16 assists and two 1v1s, and awawa ended the series with 73 kills and four clutches from five.
Mommy ASMR Lovers (MOMMY) were two rounds from winning this on Lotus and didn't get either of them, and the decider belonged to Aether, who'd gone 19/20 on the opening map. MOMMY had Vay and ANS, and for most of three maps they were the two best players on the server, and it didn't matter. Joe Biden (JOE) closed Lotus with four straight from Goonster and Aether, and Aether's 30 on Haven finished it.
Sunset
JOE picked Sunset, attacked first, and split the half 6-6, iqsi's Cypher and Aether's Phoenix each with a three-kill round to keep pace. Then MOMMY hit B, over and over, and won six of seven. Vay's Phoenix took the opening kill in four of them, and ANS, a day after the 13-1 with BD, had three with Neon's ult in round eighteen. 12-7. JOE won three straight, Ahko beating frxme's Odin in a 1v1 at A Elbow and Aether finishing a defuse with a Hot Hands kill at B Main, but MOMMY closed it 13-10.
Lotus
MOMMY picked Lotus, and for twelve rounds JOE owned it, Turtle's Raze with a four-kill round and Aether's Iso with two of them. 8-4 at the half, and then MOMMY attacked and ANS took over again, four kills across three sites in round fifteen, four with the ult on B in seventeen, and frxme adding three Odin kills at C Bend in eighteen. Seven of eight, 9-11 MOMMY, two rounds from the series.
Round twenty-one, 9-11. Goonster's Fade, who hadn't been in the story all night, killed Vay, jambo and frxme at B Main in three seconds. Next round he won a 1v1 against Vay in the same spot and JOE defused. He had three more in twenty-three, then Aether killed Vay, jambo and yan in twenty-four and iqsi got the defuse at C Bend. Four straight, 13-11, and MOMMY, two rounds from the series, never got either of them.
Haven
The decider went to Haven with JOE defending, and Aether opened it with four Ghost kills on C Site. JOE held the next five the same way, killing all five attackers every time, and ran the score to 6-0 before MOMMY had even won a gunfight. Then Vay took the half over, four at C in round eight and three more in nine, eleven and twelve, and MOMMY won seven of eight to get to 7-7 at the switch, and the second half was Aether's, three on A in sixteen, three more two rounds later, Turtle's Vandal holding C, and JOE won six of the last seven. 13-8. Aether finished 30/14 on a 393 ACS on a map where the bigger names were all on the other side.
Vay's 27 led MOMMY on Haven, and ANS ended the series with 57 kills across three maps for the losing side. MOMMY led 12-7 on Sunset and 11-9 on Lotus and only won the first one.
Thirty-six rounds, and the last one ended on the clock
100GF 1-2 LRG | Monday, August 24
Thirty-six rounds on Lotus, six overtimes, and the last one ended with 100 Girlfriends (100GF) still holding the spike and the clock at zero, and Ahko was alive when it ran out. He was the last 100GF player alive in thirteen rounds on that map, more than anyone in any map this week, and the whole thing came down to how many of those he could win against Ginzburg, who had 89 kills in the series and was on the other end of most of them.
Sunset and Haven
100GF went 8-4 up on their Sunset pick with Elysium 29/15 on Jett, and lost it 11-13. It turned in round eleven, at 7-3, when Elysium killed four and left 100GF with the man advantage and Ginzburg won a 1v2 at B Boba and defused anyway. LETHARGY (LRG) then won six of seven on attack, and Ginzburg's 1v1 against Neptune at A Link in the last round finished it. Haven went the other way, 100GF 0-4 down before Neptune's Chamber and kuruk killed all five in A Lobby inside three seconds in round five, they got to the half 6-6, and three Elysium multi-kill rounds after the switch took it 13-9.
Lotus
100GF defended first on the decider and defended well. rain had three on the pistol, Ahko's Vyse had a Spectre triple through C Main and Bend in round two, and Ginzburg was getting LRG's rounds more or less by himself, four with the Neon ult on B in round six and four more on C in eleven. Ahko answered with four of his own and a 1v1 defuse at A Tree. 9-3 at the half, 10-3 after the pistol, and this was 100GF's map to lose.
Then LRG started winning the close ones. Clucker won a 1v3 with a Sheriff on A in round fourteen, nightwinter's Ares cut three down in B Site the round after, and LRG won seven of the next eight to get within one at 11-10, and in round twenty-two Ahko found himself 1v3 at C Waterfall, killed Protogen, walked the spike to B and planted with two seconds left on the clock, then shot Ginzburg at B Upper and Clucker on the site. 12-10, and the lead lasted two rounds before LRG made it 12-12.
Overtime was twelve rounds of one side getting to map point and the other taking it away, and most of the rounds LRG won went through Ahko. nightwinter beat him in a Shorty 1v1 at C Bend to defuse, then beat him again two rounds later after three Odin kills at A Tree. Elysium kept 100GF alive with a 1v1 on Protogen in C Hall, and Ginzburg had two more four-kill rounds. After thirty-five rounds LRG led 17-18, and 100GF were attacking with the map on the line.
Round thirty-six. Elysium killed Doofy on C Site early and Neptune got Clucker at A Stairs, but nightwinter's Odin took three at C Bend and 100GF had two players left and the spike still in hand. Ahko killed Ginzburg to make it a 1v2, and while he was still looking for the last two the clock ran out. No plant. Ahko alive, spike never planted, and LRG had won a 36-round map on time. 19-17.
Ginzburg finished the map 43/25, and nightwinter, who'd gone 13/22 and 9/16 on the first two maps, had 33 kills and 19 assists on Omen. Ahko won two of his thirteen last-alive rounds, and Ginzburg's 89 kills are the most in any series this week.
kleeism, again, and a 30-round Haven
CF 0-2 JPORK | Tuesday, August 25
Two days after the 44 for ECHO, kleeism was on Phoenix for Avengers End Gamr (JPORK), and Chud Factory (CF) came within a round of him on both maps. Atom had 31 on Haven, was the last CF player alive five times, and lost all five, the last of them a 1v1 at 14-15.
Ascent
kleeism went 33/15 on CF's Ascent pick. JPORK won the first three on defense with him opening every one, and CF answered with five in a row from 1-5 to lead 6-5, Cgw winning a 1v2 at B Boat House against askrial's Odin, which had just killed three. After the switch lae's Outlaw took three for 8-6, and CF even won a round on the clock at 8-8. At 9-10 they had a real shot at the map, and kleeism took it away in round twenty. lae and Aero at A Site and A Tree inside twelve seconds, JPORK planted, and then Cgw, Atom and Asteria on the retake at Rafters and Tree. An ace, and 9-11. JPORK got to 12-9, CF pulled one back, and Flame4Game closed it in twenty-three with three kills and a 1v1 against Cgw at A Rafters. 13-10.
Haven
Haven was 30 rounds and neither team ever led by more than three. ari's Jett aced in round five, five kills in eighteen seconds through Mid Doors, Mid Window and A Garden while CF were still setting up, and lae's Neon answered with four the very next round. Atom had a three-kill retake and defuse at 6-8, and it went all the way to 12-12. In twenty-four ari opened with two Blade Storm kills at A Long and A Site and Flame4Game finished it with a Shock Bolt kill and a 1v1 against Atom on site. In the last round JPORK planted B, Atom killed ItsJump and kleeism to get it to a 1v1, and Flame4Game shot him on B Site. 16-14.
